Ayal Senior - Hebrew Lips Here is a sweet slice of psychotropic euphoria from Ayal who with this release celebrates his fourth music-related release on Beniffer. This one is destined to be the prom queen of the lot, already having received rave reviews from my roommate. We've resolved that Sr. has really "reached" with this one, right into the utopia of the minds eye or some such nonsense. Like a teenage can of orange juice concentrate he navigates saccharine psych-pop moves with the clever daint of the Woods Family as fronted by Bobb Trimble. To say that Ayal has outdone himself with this one would be an understatement of hummer-limo proportions, so it would be best for baby to taste this one for himself. Co-written by Jackie Shapiro. Tape comes cradled in a silkscreened surprise foldout from the active imagination of Jacob Horwood, cover painting by G. Edwards.
ALSO! The Halo Halo October Mixtape is done. On it you will find spoOoOooooOOky music from 50 artists, all mixed together in deep-stereo by myself. It comes with a 2 in 1 poster by Jeff Garcia, Winston Hacking and myself for the Goin' Steady Monster Mash that we're doing "environments" for. This will be available at She Said Boom and Soundscapes soon or through me. I think it will also be on sale at the White House thing on halloween.
hi - trying to keep updating this thing even if not much is going down... here are some samples of what is to be expected in the next couple of weeks from beniffer editions. due to my somewhat subpar understanding of everything web-related, i haven't figured out how to embed these files, so in the meantime you can download them as they are in shitty m4a format.
the gnostics - luminous monlith http://www.zshare.net/download/66671605a5ff0b25/
brian ruryk - cycle of fords, disc ? track 1 http://www.zshare.net/download/666724923bcd8d13/
The Gnostics is release is nearing completion! it is a 4.5x6 style silkscreened zine/book with original art from the members, reappropriated (sp?) and layered into some other kind of compositions. luminous monolith is the first track on the first side of the first tape (there are two of them).
Brian Ruryk's Cycle of Fords is in the process of being burned... 6 cdr's x edition of 100, you do the math. this is a landmark occasion for us as it is our last cdr release on the label. the whole procedure of burning these cd's, having the burner fail time and time again, checking the discs and realizing that half of them don't work should serve as a testament to my everlasting allergy to this shitty medium. anyway - when it is done it will be AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG. they come in 5" reel boxes!
in other news there is this: yes, a poster. it is the first in a series of poster/mixtapes sets by Jeff Garcia and myself for Halo-Halo Screenprinting (http://halohaloscreenprinting.blogspot.com/). this is the august issue. i made the mixtape - 60's wasted psych theme (alan watts, anal magic, the sandpipers, etc...) septembers is almost done and the mixtape was found on the side of the road and it has some real blazers by our lady peace, tori amis and beastie boys.
Archaic Women is the nom de plume of Toronto's Max Turnbull aka Slim Twig. On his debut release under this pseudonym Max rehashes deep psych-pop passages of moribund hipster lines into new a kind of post-something rock melange reminiscent of nothing up to this point... What is it? Like the carnivalesque soft-shoe monkey-dance sung through florid gums and skinny pants, breath all beleaguered with prescription scotch and thai stick, hypnotized by the pummeling custard of 60's tits... Kind of like if Slim Twig was covering his own songs in a phantasmagoric vacuum of subaqueous reverb and pre-cheesy organ plaque between the bridgework of the all-consuming rock and roll aesthetic. Comes in a 18"x24" double-sided silkscreened poster by Andrew Zukerman and an insert by Jacob Horwood which is also silkscreened. Copies are available at She Said Boom on College, Soundscapes and Good Blood, Bad Blood.
In the next couple of weeks you can expect the Brian Ruryk "Cycle of Fords" 6xcdr boxset and Thee Gnostics book & 2x cassette (featuring Gaven Dianda of the Saffron Sect).

Wasted Nymph - Inmost Diarrhea of the Astral Crone Part II cassette Wasted Nymph continue their infantile excursion into the stereo diaper, probing the depths of their fly by night aesthetic with the audible grief of an gastroenteroligist's rehearsal dinner. Sometimes when a piece of music like this comes my way I find myself at a loss of words, embracing abstractions to better illustrate the esoteric; but I find that with this particular piece of transgression all that comes out is foor CamCamCamCA jjjjjjjjjje Re-O Re-O corsica NumNums. For fans of early Red Krayola and Broken Penis Orchestra. Still the best band in Montreal. Check out Wasted Nymph on the synthbabes blog: http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/05/2synth.html

Metalux - 1-0-0-3 cassette Metalux has carved their name into the forearm of contemporary whatshamacallit music, backwards, in braille and with a shiv fashioned from a colgate medium bristle toothbrush. This emission is testament to their handiwork... Dollops of seafoam nausea seethe in the tumult of tape-manipulated vocals while hypocritical sheets of electronic sunburn blaspheme immodest keyboard vendettas... Kind of like eating a mustard gas sandwich while you're pregnant. Comes in a package of 4 double-sided silkscreened patches on organic-cotton, and another board thing that's pretty good, i guess...

Ignatz - Some of Them Are Funny Songs cassette This little number marks Bram Deven's second helping on Beniffer after the hugely successful (for us) cassette a couple of years ago. Fans of Ignatz will notice that there is something noticeably different about this compared to Bram's earlier overcast transmissions - a certain amount of, dare I say overtness? Which isn't to say that it is completely lacking in the cavernous brume of his signature blues-lathered night-vision psalms... No nono n o n ooo, these songs have been growing in the same mildewy place under the mattress, the creative undergrowth that inflamed the minds of other downer-folk heros such as Dave Bixby, Jakob Olausson and Alexander Spence, but this time recorded on a clean, de-magnitized tape with percussion and organ accompaniment. You will like this. Comes in a silkscreened & velcro'd fold-around.
Music: Bram Devens Art/Printing: Jacob Horwood Insert: Andrew Zukerman & Randy Gagne
Andrew Zukerman - Book and Cassette Look at this! Consists of 32 pages of collaged images done with drawing, photocopies and 2-colour screenprint. Often potent and engrossing, the collection is a true testament to the ever evolving musical and visual collages of A. Zukerman. Better to see for yourself. - Laura McCoy The cassette is all archival tape source from 2004-09 collaged straight to cassette, full of blunders and re-do's. All very personal and brimming with inflamed memories... Side two is a bootleg split with the Carnival of Souls soundtrack by Gene Clark and Olivier Messiaen's Fete des Belles Eaux
"Obsessive organ oddities that is anything but standard. Experimental electronic obscurities containing actual theatre organ music circa 1950’s mixed with obtuse & messed up samples, rumblings & effects. Kitschy & crazy & avant spooky, haunted ghostly & fuckin’ out n’ out weird. The perfect soundtrack for a Halloween misadventure. Growls, howls, strange songs. it’s a fucked phantasmagoric fantasy island set to eerie organ tones." - Guy Montag
Loachfillet: West Coast solo anomaly. Count Loachfillet’s sound structures are the sort of thing that occurs when you dissect Quintron’s Frog Tape, Rosa Rio’s horror picture theatre organ & the Phantom of the Opera and reconstruct them into a horrific ungodly monster meant to roam the filthy sewers or tend to overgrown bats & spiders in a deep dank cave. NO BAD LANGUAGE ON THIS CD!
IDM Theftable: East Coast stag entity. Ever stranger organ audacities. Zany little sings songs & raps, abrupt stops, skips & fluctuations in sounds. Some weird ass sequential counting cut ups in a glitchular noisy atmosphere. Lotsa loops & echo plus nonsensical mutterings & such. Odd playful spazzy interludes. Pretty fucked up.

“Four track album from this lysergic country/lunar blues group featuring Matthew 'Doc' Dunn of MV & EE fame. The sound is raggedy communal goodtime ala The Cherry Blossoms, with mouth harp, banjo, guitar et al rendered in a lower east side hoedown style that is sure to appeal to fans of The Holy Modal Rounders, Mike Nesmith, Pat Kilroy, David Peel, Tower Recordings, Peter Grudzien, Matthew Valentine et al. Comes with fold-around screened sleeves in hard plastic envelopes. - David Keenan – Volcanic Tongue

This nugget was recorded on my computer last year by Brian Seeger while I was away at work. He was here on business pitching tofu roast to the Don Jail culinary staff and i booked him to play my living room. Here is the unexpurgated document of what transpired the morning after said gig. For those of you that aren't yet hip to Seeger's deep loop agenda this is the perfect introduction. This thick jammer is a serpentine dawdle down the corn-row ouroboros of magnetic infinitude; a tape-loop lasso encircling the gamut of aural intention and chance; clarinet and pre-recorded sources run, smear and bitchslaps into and against each other, always on the brim of the gaping black-hole like chasm of analogue delay but never plummeting indefinitely into the slick-rick everlasting-land like so many of his contemporaries.

Emanating from the sewer steamed wilted yellow okra of the mind's-eye/ third-eye camera godhead the Dreamcatcher shoots forth with a primordial clam-chowder slick filling your MINDSHIT with light like urine fills the pant seats of the incontinent. You might know this dreamteam from previous heavy jammers on American Tapes, Heresee, Pink Triforce and Ecstatic Peace, and you've probably liked them too. You've probably spent full nights making long-distant phone calls to your phantom-hips and drinking the liquid fleece from your own pelvic-saddle in a morbid contortion groping the history of dance for one step that'll appropriately assimilate itself to Dreamcatcher's future dance-o-mometer. This thaistick is for FREAKS ONLY.
